A tip for keeping pavers from getting slippery

Our patio pavers get slick in the shady spots during rainy season. After cleaning, I started sweeping away leaves every few days and trimming back the plants so the area gets more sun. It seems to help between washes.

We noticed the same thing in our backyard. Keeping the joints clear of leaves seems to help, though the shady side still needs a periodic clean during rainy season. A little more airflow made a difference too.

That’s a good tip. Leaves hold moisture against the pavers, and trimming plants can help the shaded areas dry faster after rain. We also try to keep the sprinklers from soaking the patio every morning.
